"Silent Parties" - To Be or Not To Be ?

"Silent Parties" .... I came across this write up on the Times of India recently, hmmm well to start with there should be no such thing as a "silent" party. Parties are all about having fun, making some noise and sharing stuff together, not being stuck up with a headphone in some corner. That's what your ipod is for mate !!

Yes, as a change, for a one off day, it may be fun, different or seem stylish to be dancing crazily to the tunes from a headphone. But it's not something that's here to stay. And especially if it's a party where there are more than one DJ's playing on different frequency bands on the headsets.

Not to mention high volumes on a headset are even more dangerous to the listener that the effects of a large club sound system. Everyone I'm sure remembers the movies "It's All Gone Pete Tong" and the recent Bollywood flick "Soundtrack" where the Dj goes down due to Tinnitus. Now I'm sure you don't want that happening to your ears do you?

All that said, a true DJ knows there is nothing like the energy of a packed dance floor, with everyone dancing to the same tune, sharing love, music and smiles. The energy of high energy sound systems is what makes it fun, and my verdict is a big "NO" to so called "Silent Headphone Parties".

Peace out!
